Through the years fashion styles, especially in high schools, have been changing drastically because of the ongoing trends that have been exposed worldwide, influencing and inspiring many young teenagers’ brains, making them inspired to express themselves through their clothes and styles.
When Navarro Villoslada opened its doors in 1971 as an all-girls high school, the feminine trends in the 70’s revolved around free expression with a great variety of styles such as hippie, ethnic clothes, vests, crochet clothes, etc. But what was more trendy was the miniskirts, jean jackets and pants and opened flared jeans that we all now wear and call ‘vintage clothing’. But was it actually worn to schools like we do now? The generalized answer is no.
It was very popular that schools had a unique style of uniform that was a sort of dress code which wouldn’t let everyone wear anything. But in some other schools there was a uniform which everyone had to wear.

The first photo was from the beginning of EGB times, where all women had to wear the same clothes. But as the years passed schools started removing school uniforms and only added some restrictions to let students have liberty of expression and be more comfortable. Just like in the second photo, where all women had to wear a long skirt or dress and men had to wear pants and a T-shirt, in the school Asuncion Vallecas (Madrid).
But nowadays the majority of schools are more open to people expressing themselves through their clothes without a lot of restrictions. But of course in some centers they still have strict dress codes or uniforms, which can be seen in private schools or in countries where they are very strict with what everyone wears. Instagram, Myspace, Tiktok are some socials where people showed some of their outfits, which got very much popular making it trends worldwide along the years. For example a soft comfortable style which many use to go to school as it is trendy and not very heavy to use.
We can see many examples in the high school Navarro Villoslada:

This style is mainly characterised by the trend of wearing baggy pants (usually jeans, but there are some variations) or bell bottom pants which are pants that are very fitted at the top and as it goes down it widens. This type of pants are combined with a sweatshirt with volume or baggy jackets of any kind. To end it, normally people tend to match their shoes with the top part of their outfit, just to combine them all. Making a sandwich of colors.
Apart from this trend making it to mostly all schools without uniforms in Spain and across Europe, there are many other trends that not many people are brave enough to take it to school just because they wonder what others will say or think about them.

Recently, there’s been a tendency to bring back old trend styles from the 60’s to 2000’s, and a big one was the cheetah print, many of which were seen on social media. Here in Navarro Villoslada, some girls wear it and even decorate every object they have with this print. But many speculate on the social media app TikTok that this trend is going to be replaced with the Chinese print (red color and traditional Chinese patterns.)
On the other hand, we can´t see a general trend about boys in Navarro Villoslada but some patterns like baggy clothing. Many of them have their own style.
