El pasado lunes 6 se celebr\u00f3 la final de la Liga de Debate en Ingl\u00e9s de nuestro centro, un evento lleno de emoci\u00f3n, argumentos s\u00f3lidos y mucho talento. Cinco equipos formados por alumnado de 4\u00baESO y 1\u00ba bachillerato demostraron no solo su competencia ling\u00fc\u00edstica en ingl\u00e9s, sino tambi\u00e9n su capacidad para investigar, pensar cr\u00edticamente y comunicarse de forma persuasiva. La pregunta de esta edici\u00f3n fue <\/strong><\/em>\u201cIs Space Exploration a waste of money?\u00bb,<\/strong> una cuesti\u00f3n tan actual como controvertida, que dio lugar a intensos intercambios de ideas. Durante los debates, los estudiantes abordaron preguntas como las implicaciones \u00e9ticas de los viajes espaciales, si se deber\u00eda priorizar la financiaci\u00f3n de la exploraci\u00f3n del espacio frente a los problemas en la Tierra, o el futuro de la colonizaci\u00f3n de otros planetas. Gan\u00f3 el equipo formado por Judit C\u00edscar Ruiz, Miren Fern\u00e1ndez Pelluz, Ada Herguera Morales, Lola Moratinos Ciordia y Nadia Valencia Baur\u00e8s, las Red Herring. El jurado valor\u00f3 aspectos como la claridad de las ideas, el uso del lenguaje persuasivo, la solidez de las refutaciones y el trabajo en equipo. La final concluy\u00f3 con un gran aplauso tambi\u00e9n para el equipo finalista: The Messengers, formado por Judit Arilla Ortega, Yue Crespo Lerga, Edurne Huang Ji, Paula Iglesias Cozar<\/em><\/em> yMaialen P\u00e9rez \u00c1lvarez. La Liga de Debate forma parte de nuestro compromiso con el aprendizaje activo, el desarrollo del pensamiento cr\u00edtico, y la excelencia acad\u00e9mica en ingl\u00e9s como lengua extranjera. \u00a1El Departamento de Ingl\u00e9s ya est\u00e1 trabajando en la pr\u00f3xima edici\u00f3n, que llegar\u00e1 con un nuevo tema y muchas m\u00e1s ideas por debatir!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last Monday our students took part in an exciting Debate League in English<\/strong>, where five groups of talented young debaters demonstrated their command of rhetoric and their ability to argue, refute, and persuade in a second language. The central theme of the competition was the ever-relevant and thought-provoking topic: \u00abSpace Exploration.\u00bb<\/strong>Throughout the event, students tackled complex questions such as the ethical implications of space travel, the prioritization of space funding versus Earth-based issues, and the potential for colonizing other planets. The debates were not only a test of language proficiency but also of teamwork, research, and critical thinking. \u201cThe Debate League was a fantastic opportunity for our students to engage deeply with a global issue while practicing persuasive communication in English,\u201d said Uxua Burgui, organizer of the event. \u201cThey showed impressive confidence, preparation, and the ability to respond spontaneously to challenging arguments.\u201d Judges evaluated the teams based on clarity of ideas, use of persuasive language, strength of rebuttals, and teamwork. The event concluded with a lively final round and enthusiastic applause from teachers and peers to the finalists: The Messengers <\/em>and Red Herring<\/em>. The Debate League is part of Navarro Villoslada\u2019s ongoing efforts to promote active learning, global citizenship, and academic excellence in English as a foreign language. Plans are already underway for next year’s edition, with a new topic to inspire another round of passionate discourse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
